Categories, Tags and Promotion
You must be logged in and have owner or admin powers to manage Tags and Promotion.
Choosing categories and adding tags are two of the best ways for the search engines to find your message board. Turning on the Promotion tool allows you to be sure that your tags and categories are included in searches.
Tags make it easier to find content in your message board and easier to find message boards that are of interest to you. The Promotion tool helps you describe your message board to new or prospective members. Let's walk through how to quickly and effectively tag and promote your message board:
Tags and Categories
The Yuku network is a great way to promote your message board and get more people involved in the things you are passionate about. By carefully selecting accurate categories and tags you will make it easier for new users to find you and it will make the advertising on your message board more relevant. Let's look at how to select categories and tag words:
- Categories - You must select a primary and secondary category that accurately reflects the content on your message board. Using the drop down list, select the primary and secondary category that match the type of content that will be on your message board. From time to time our staff will check the categorization of message boards and may re-classify your board to reflect the content in that board.
- Tag Words - Tag words or tags are simply words or phrases that accurately describe your message board. For example if your message board was about the movie "Pirates of the Caribbean" some of the suitable tag words might include "movie, movies, action, adventure, pirate, Johnny Depp, Keira Knightley" and so on.
Promotion
Turning promotion ON allows your message board to be included in Yuku searches and it allows your message board's avatar to be displayed on Yuku's home page gallery of message boards. Message boards like all internet content can always be searched by web search engines like Yahoo and Google.
Domain Avatar
The Domain avatar is displayed in Yuku search results and on the Yuku home page when your message board appears there. You can link to an image of your domain avatar by pasting the link in the Domain Avatar text area. The domain avatar should be 100x100 pixels in size.
