Customizing your Profile

You can use Profile Skins to customize your Yuku Profile. Skins are used to customize the way your profile is displayed.

Profiles can be customized to look the way that you want them to. There are three ways that you can customize your Profile using skins and even custom HTML and CSS. Starting from the easiest method the three customization methods are:

  1. Use an existing Profile Skin from the Skins Library - You can choose from dozens of pre-built skins in the Profile Skin library.
  2. Modify an existing Profile Skin from the Library - To modify a skin, go to the Profile Skin Library and for the skin you are interested in modifying, click on the "Copy to my skins" button. This copies the skin to the "My Profile Skins" folder of Profile skins. Once that skin is in your My Profile Skins folder you can edit the Header HMTL, Footer HTML and CSS for that skin. Editing the HTML and CSS files is somewhat advanced and can break your message board skin. If your skin breaks you should replace it with a skin that you know works until you fix the skin you are modifying.
  3. Create a new skin - you can create your own original skins using just HTML and CSS. Because skin creation can be complex and is evolving there is a Yuku community that shares tips and tricks on skin creation. You can find it here: http://skins.yuku.com/.

Profile Skin Library

This page lets you find, view and select a skin to apply to your Yuku profile.

Finding skins is easy, you can sort by author, release date, or the number of times the skin has been used on a profile. When you find the skin you want to use on your Profile, you apply it to your message board by clicking on the "Apply" button. This will apply the skin you are reviewing directly to the active Profile you are managing at that time.

My Profile Skins

This page displays the profile skins you have copied to your My Profile Skins folder or the custom skins have created yourself.

On the My Profile Skins page you can:

  2. Apply - click to apply that skin to your Profile.
  3. Edit - click to edit the HTML and CSS that makes up the skin.
  4. WYSIWYG - click to edit the skin with the WYSIWYG editor.
  5. Copy - click to make copy of the skin.
  6. Delete - click to delete the skin. Deleted skins cannot be restored. You will have to rebuild them.
