What is yuku?

yuku is the next generation of community software by ezboard. Totally rebuilt from scratch and based on 7 years of community experience, it is designed to combine our classic functionality with new technologies and web 2.0 features that have become available. This will allow us to provide a richer user experience for existing ezboard users and new users alike, while keeping the fun, customization and ease of use that ezboard is traditionally known for.

What are the benefits of yuku?

Today yuku has these advantages:

• advanced search on different levels
• tags in topics and profiles
• cross domain searches using tags and keywords
• google friendly URLs and search engine optimized code (for example: search for the lobby or search for Alisons profile )
• add kudos (ratings) to boards and profiles
• familiar features, like poll topics, sticky and featured topics

Improved features for ALL users, including:

• advanced private message system with generous storage
• linked profiles with multiple signatures for each profile
• invisible forums and MBA forums (in addition to MBA boards)
• chatrooms

New features including

• integrated wysiwyg editor for posting and editing in different areas
• enhanced bbcode editor alternative
• free hosting for your images
• member image galleries with slideshows
• interactive and customisable profiles
• last post and last poster name on main page as well as forum page
• email subscriptions and rss links for boards, forums and topics
• member blogs in profiles
• friends lists and in-profile comments

Advanced features for customizing your domains:

• Save and keep ALL your board themes (skins) and apply them to the whole board or single forums with a simple click.
• choose new skins from our library and apply them with a simple click.
• separate skins for smilies and posticons
• global html
• wysiwyg editor for creating css without learning to code it
• preview feature for when you're working on new themes (skins)
• drag and drop image placement when editing your board images
• javascript library with premade scripts for all your scripting needs in a simple format that requires no difficult coding

Improved user profiles with the following features:

• drag and drop layout, enable or disable all customizable parts of your profile
• comments and replies from other users
• friends box to show your friends and link to their profiles
• Location map
• Show off your media including videos
• Link to your own gallery and albums for photographs
• custom html boxes for anything you like

Improved admin tools including:

• increased stability with triple to 7x hardware failure redundancy
• better security with honeypots and intrusion detection system

• hide/show user posts one by one or in bulk
• extensive member management section with powerful filtering
• flexible and customisable ban and warn system
• merge/split topics
• undo deleted topics
• undo deleted forums

yuku is changing and growing all the time, so this feature list will grow, and it will change. If you don't see what you want now, vote for it in the [feedback poll], or suggest it to us. yuku is being developed around user feedback.

Upgrading to yuku

Currently, ezboards are being upgraded to yuku. Posts, security settings (including banned member settings) and member accounts are transferred from ezboard to yuku. Old ezboard urls are redirected to the yuku message board so no traffic is lost.

How can you get involved with yuku?

It's easy. There are three ways you can get involved.

1. You can [create a new account] and just start using yuku from scratch,
2. You can use the link in your control panel to copy your ezboard account to yuku. If you decide to copy your ezboard account to yuku, you'll copy over all of your profile details, post count and historical info and community credits, but it won't affect your ezboard account at all. You can choose to redirect people to your yuku profile from your ezboard one if you wish, or just leave them separate. If you have any problems importing your ezboard account to yuku, please put in a [help ticket].
3. You can import your ezboard to yuku. If you'd like to request a transfer, you should read the ezboard to yuku FAQs and put in a [ticket].

Places to visit in yuku

1. Find: Find both ezboard and yuku boards.
2. Support: Drop in at the support forum and talk to other yuku users - many of whom are using yuku full time now, and they are happy to share their experiences.
3. Help: Search, read, and suggest yuku help articles.
4. Users-to_Users Help: If you want some user to user help, try get help, the user-run help forum.
5. Customization: If you want to test out customizing your new yuku profile or domain, but are not sure where to start, then ask at skins, the skins and css help board.
6. Bugs: We fix bugs as soon as we know about them in yuku. So if you are "lucky" enough to find one, please drop by the report a bug forum and let the dev guys know about it, and then wait to see what happens.
